Teamed with a skilled pilot and an adventurous colleague, it's up to her to thwart the plans of a mad scientist bent on world domination.In this throwback to old sci-fi cliffhanger comics and serials of yesteryear, it's 1930's Gotham (aka New York City) and ace reporter Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) has noted the sudden disappearances of many of the world's most famous scientists. After the city falls under attack of giant flying robots, she decides to team up with her old flame/aviation officer Joseph 'Sky Captain' Sullivan (Jude Law) and fly to around the world in search of Dr. Totenkopf, whose plan is to create a "World of Tomorrow"...and destroy the one of today.In 1939, an intrepid reporter in New York City makes a connection between the story she's covering-- of famous scientists suddenly disappearing around the world, and a recent attack on the city by giant robots. Determined to find the solution to these happenings, she seeks the help of her ex-boyfriend, the captain of a mercinary legion of pilots. The two are investigating the case when the robots attack the city again, though in a stroke of luck, Sky Captain's right hand man is able to locate their source. They then set off on an adventure in search of the evil mastermind behind these schemes, who is bent on creating a utopia and destroying the current world.After a city during the 30s receives a series of attacks from giant robots, Polly Perkins, a stuborn reporter, teams up with her ex-boyfriend, Jack, the Sky Captain, to search their origin, as well as the reason for the disappearances of famous scientists around the world. |
