Bilgi :New York ad agency head Roger Thornhill is dining with some friends when he calls over a bellboy to help send a cable. The bellboy is calling out for a man named George Kaplan, and two men see Thornhill with the bellboy and mistakenly take Thornhill for Kaplan, so they grab Thornhill at gunpoint and take him to the mansion of UN bureaucrat Lester Townsend - but "Townsend" is in reality Philip Vandamm, a Soviet spy, who is being tailed by George Kaplan and is determined to eliminate him, even though the befuddled Thornhill protests his true identity. Vandamm's men attempt to kill Thornhill but he escapes, but when he tries to prove his story he finds that Vandamm has covered his tracks perfectly, so Thornhill sets out to find George Kaplan, and in the process is framed for the knife murder of the real Lester Townsend at the UN building. Thornhill's plight is learned by US counterintelligence, which is using George Kaplan to tail Vandamm as cover for the activity of an agent they have infiltrated into Vandamm's organization, and a beautiful woman, Eve Kendall, who gets involved in Thornhill's quest, seems to know more about Thornhill and Kaplan than she lets on to Thornhill, ultimately leading to an encounter with a deadly crop-dusting plane, a spectacle at a public auction, and a final showdown at Mount Rushmore.
